iCandy FM Transmitter for iPhone and iPod with Car Charger

BEWARE: The transmitter came within three days, no instructions, but all you do is plug it in and adjust the FM frequency on your car radio to an unused point and adjust the transmitter accordingly. Good reception and good quality of play. THEN THE SECOND TIME I USED IT, THE IPHONE CAME ON AND THEN WENT DEAD. DEAD! It started to heat up for the next hour and finally cooled off. STILL STONE COLD DEAD. THIS PRODUCT FRIED MY IPhone. BEWARE!

It’s small. It works great. It’s portable. Car adapter is a nice touch. Mine got shocked because I had it plugged into the wall through an adapter. I e-mailed the seller. They said send it with $3 for shipping and we’ll send you a new one. Great seller. Great product.
Update: couldn’t find shipping stuff to get it replaced. Gonna buy another and keep the packing just in case.

For the $10 I paid for it, it’s a great deal — the box includes the FM transmitter itself, a standard USB cable, a car USB charger, and a remote control.
I use this at work (not in the car), where they allow us to listen to radios but do not allow headphones/earbuds. Thus, I can listen to my own music. Using any station on the dial is a huge plus over the fixed-frequency transmitters on sale.
Sound quality is average, but this is one place where the iPod’s “Bass Boost” equalizer setting makes a pleasant difference. The range is not 33 feet as advertised, but it’s good enough for my uses.
My iPod touch (2nd generation and jailbroken) runs for a good 5 hours on a fully-charged battery with room to spare. Granted, using it for one shift at work uses up almost the entire battery, so I may add a charger into the mix at some point.
The device feels cheap. Although the remote works if pointed right at the transmitter, it’s quite useless. If you’re looking for a high-quality unit, this is not the one for you; however, if you’re looking for something cheap, this one is highly recommended.

- Remote control was good, but when this device is connected to iPhone, it blocks GPS signal so iPhone GPS doesn’t work.
- USB port also blocks iPhone car holder, so it should be in the center
- Volume control is really bad. It’s too abrupt and unpredictable.
- FM signal is too weak, so regular air frequency of FM radio puts a lot of noise.
