@Nomoreidsleft Achully, if you shop right you can get a 16 gig for 11 bucks so, 4 times 16 is 64.
now that’s still a bit pricey because an 60 gig external drive costs about 20, however it’s about 6 times faster then a hard drive. plus, you’ve got 4 points of access. so if you where to run them all as one drive it’d be 24 times faster. it also uses considerably less power. because there’s no moving parts.

plus it’s hot a dutiable case and no moving parts, so it should last about forever

    i got a 1 terabite

  5. @zezzoification Dude, it’s not “organzied” either…it’s “organized”. You’re just as dumb as he is.

  6. I’m sorry, but this idea is just so useless that I had to let everyone know how useless it was. It was even more useless than this post.

  7. @madjam002 USB3 has been out for a few months. And USB3 (5Gbps) is actually faster than SATA2(3Gbps) my usb3 HDD dock transfers data from harddrives at their max speeds and is limited by the HDD speed, not the cable.

  8. @Zeldagigafan90210 8TB!! holy crap!!

  9. Zeldagigafan90210 on August 31st, 2010 at 6:40 am

update, with the new exFAT File System, it can range from 64GB to a whopping 8TB!!!!!!
Also it’s not a hard drive if there is no disk, (HDD, Hard Drive Disk) you made an SSD (Solid State Drive)

  10. @evildoctorbluetooth No my mind will not change because even USB 3 is slower than hard drive access. Besides USB 3 is out but you can’t buy it in the shops yet.

@madjam002 perhapts when USB 3 comes out, your mind will be changed.

personally, im more worried about the power, myself i would add a 5v battery, or 5volt power input.

@crazy4lego it is dude, sub to make magazine

  13. souds like kipkay…. lol

  14. @titibayun2 Ha ha ha! That’s the whole ethos of Make Magazine. Basically, projects for the sake of making something regardless of whether it’s practical, useful or cost effective. Sign of people having too much money, time and not enough sense.

  15. thats like putting a new LCD TV inside an old CRT TV casing…remind me why would that be necessary ? I mean if you bought a new LCD why not just have it as it is.. ?

  16. @MrJANTJE123 That won’t work unfortunately. It’s the same effect of having the usbs plugged in individually. You have to merge the partitions in the computer and re-format it to get one drive.

  17. This won’t make it faster. The USB cable is slow and slows down the data transfer. Hard Drives are much faster because of the parallel cables.

  18. desolder the usb connections on the usb’s and connect them to each other

  19. @zezzoification
    you failed too

  20. that costs twice no thrice the price of a new harddrive

  21. 2:34 see the 4th USB it 2gb

  22. @zezzoification I think that’s part of his shtick
