  1. This Heart Rate Monitor Watch with USB transfer device is advertised as being compatible with Apple Mac…IT’S NOT!!!

Buy this watch and you too can waste week after week chasing Timex or their partner ‘Training Peaks’ for a solution, or even a response?….THEY WON’T!!!

You might think there’s privacy laws to protect you from junk emails, the kind that could prevent you getting over TEN per week….THEY DON’T!!!

Overall? The watch is a very clever piece of kit and will eventually talk to a PC if you keep on trying and trying. However if you have a Mac you’re screwed! It’s a relatively new device that will appeal to the concerting, somewhat intelligent, fitness enthusiast, the typical forward thinking person that would own a Mac. If you get suckered in like I did be prepared fro Timex to flatly deny its compatibility with Mac and for Training Peaks Online to laugh in your face because you’re using the newest Mac Operating System, notwithstanding of course the fact the watch came AFTER the OS!!

I’ll keep the watch because I’m an optimist (hence owning a Mac). I’ll live in the hope that one of the people described on the box, next to the name Mac, will actually get a conscience and fix the problem. For now? I’m uploading the training info via a decrepit PC (Aren’t they all?!!).

If you’re a stuck in the dark ages PC user, buy this watch. If you only have a Mac DON’T!!

  2. I ordered this on the June 7/2010 from Amazon and had my order delayed over and over again. Amazon does NOT have stock on this item even though they list it as in-stock. Below is the shipping estimates I got.

    Ship: 8 Arrive: 9-11

    Ship: 9 Arrive: 10-14

    Ship: 14 Arrive: 15-17

    Ship: 16 Arrive: 17-21

    Ship: 18 Arrive: 21-23

    Ship: 21 Arrive: 22-24

    Ship: 21 Arrive: 22-24

    Ship: 23 Arrive: 24-28

When I contacted customer service I was told on the 11th that it was in-stock and they were preparing my order to ship. Then I contacted on the 15th and was told the item was actually on backorder and also that their was a error in my order causing it not to ship that was now fixed and they waived my shipping($22.09). Then I contacted on the 19th and was told their was a error in my order and that I needed to cancel and re-order. Then I contacted on the 22nd and was told the item is in-stock but just not at the shipping centre that they will ship to me from.

I ended up cancelling my order and choosing Clever-Training(non fulfilment) since they ship to Canada and are a Authorized Timex Dealer. Unfortunately Amazon wouldn’t waive the shipping or offer any discounts. Hoping to receive my order soon.

  3. With no doubt te watch is great, great design, the connection with the antena is perfect and the coded transmiter works great. Nontheless I think it is very bad for such a great product that it did not include a CD to install a complete and full capable program to plan, register and elaborate you training history. I bought the whole deal package, with the antena included and I spected to be included a great program that could be installed from a CD, instead they made a deal with training peaks that has a great online program too, but you have to pay to have the full program services, thats a very bad thing for such a great product, it impoverish the product.

  4. This watch was a major disappointment. I think the HRM has worked for a total of two of my workouts. I had a Sportline HRM watch before I purchased this product and I was looking to upgrade. This watch was not the upgrade I was looking for though. The HRM works for about 20 minutes and then it say my heart rate is 240 beats per minute. Now call me crazy but I don’t think I would be walking much less running if my heart rate was that high; especially for 2 to 3 hours after it says this. I have tried wetting the sensors; I have tried changing the batteries. Basically it just doesn’t work though. I was much more satisfied with my cheap Sportline HRM watch; it worked wonderfully until my dog chewed it to pieces. Now I am contemplating letting my dog chew this Timex watch to pieces because quite frankly it is of little use to me. I see all the advertisements now for the new Timex Gobal Trainer and I really have my doubts about that watch if it’s anything like this one.

  5. The watch itself works great, and I like the large display.

The heart rate monitor, which is what I bought this thing for is not accurate. After about a week of use, it started reading way too high, over 240! I’m not having a heart attack, thanks timex. It was reading in the 100′s while I was at rest, before I even started exercising.

I thought that since this used a digital connection, it would be more reliable — I don’t know how they managed to mess that up.

The sync with the PC feature was a little bit lame too – You have to upload to their website, I thought I would get a local program to use. What happens when their website is inevitably down?

It doesn’t always sync on the first try either, and always gives an error when finished, even though it completed okay.

Wow, I don’t think I’ll use Timex for heart rate monitors again.
